Summer might not officially be here but each warm and humid day brings it closer. Summer is   filled with family, friends and fun activities. It's arrival means cookouts, swimming pools, and trips to the lake. More than any other season, Summer is the season of adventure. Today's beach engagement shoot from Jenna McElroy Photography has us ready to jump in the truck and head for the beach for our own adventure.

Heirloom: Do you have any morning rituals or things you do to get ready for a long day of editing or shooting?

Jenna: I absolutely love mornings! I try to wake up before my toddler, and have some quiet time. I drink a chai tea latte while I read a book and/or the bible. It is a calming way to start my day.

Heirloom: What’s one thing/event/person/place you’ve always wanted to shoot but have yet to do it?

Jenna: I studied in Barcelona, Spain while in college, and I really want to go back and shoot a Spanish wedding in Barcelona! It would be an absolute dream of mine to shoot a wedding in a city that is so dear to my heart, and such a source of inspiration for myself!

Heirloom: What intrigues you most about photography?

Jenna: Photography is so captivating. To be able to hand a person, a moment, a memory that they can treasure for the rest of their life is so, so powerful. Capturing and sharing a piece of someone's story is a true honor.

Heirloom: Tell us about your journey into photography! Is there a story?

Jenna: I had my first experience with photography when I was a senior in high school. I took a black and white film class, and it was my favorite class I had ever taken. I told my mom when I came home from school the first day that I was going to be a photographer. There was something so therapeutic and majestic about learning about light, shooting film, and then getting to develop my own film in a darkroom!

Heirloom: Tell us about the Fusion Workshop coming up this Fall in Austin?!

Jenna: We are still working out the specific details, but I will be co-hosting a workshop in Austin! It will be an introductory photography workshop about how to incorporate film photography into your business, and tips and tricks for photographers just wanting to transition to film from digital! My co-host will be going over the hybrid aspects of how to match your digital image to film! We had our first workshop in Houston in January and are so excited to have one again this fall!
