Summer is officially here and there is no better way to beat the summer heat than a dip in your local pond, creek, or watering hole. Waves big and small are the refreshing sound track of summer. With the 4th of July quickly approaching there is no better time to grab your swimsuit and dive in.
Morgan of A Sea of Love, hit the lake with these two lovebirds. The wind, the waves and the sunset put you in the perfect mood to head to the lake this holiday weekend. In the mean time, we hope you enjoy meeting Morgan and hearing her awesome story.
Heirlooom: Do you have any morning routines? If so, would you mind sharing a few of them and why you feel that set you up for success?
Morgan: uhh! so, I am trying so hard to be an adult! but routines did work for me when I was in middle school, nor in this decade! however, I am all about giving my captures back to my couple as soon as possible!! most sessions wake up to their images! I am all about not falling behind, so I am playing//working pretty much 24/7. but you will never see me referring to some set up system or check-list, I have it all in my brain- the flow to keep a sea of love a float. If I do not have a shoot, no need for a wake up call (I edit best at night anyways!) snuggle a bit with my boy, typically take out my pup, Remedy, at some point COFFEE, and sit down to tackle the day! shoot days, that is my priority and everything else just falls into place!
Heirloom: Tell us about your journey into photography. How did you come to picking up your first camera?
Morgan: In highschool I played around and had a decent camera, but never dreamed or even thought about doing it for a living. I was on the path to the typical business job I have seen my parent's make such a success with! I was coming to an end on my first semester of college and was hating it all. but then, my brother, Matthew, he put it all in perspective for me and shaped my whole life without even knowing so. My brother called me that semester to tell me he was dropping out of school (he was 4.0, frat guy, stud, you name it) I was shocked, he quickly sold everything he ever owned and started a simple life that was only geared to happiness. I thought if it was all over tomorrow, would I be happy? no. I just happened to pick photography to be the thing to bring me my fulfillment. within two months I moved from Denver to California to attend Brooks Institute, one of the most prestigious commercial photography schools in the world. I knew nothing about photography, mind you! But, It was the best choice I have ever done. I have never ever been more fulfilled by something before, and to be honest never this good at something. I graduated with my Bachelors in Fine Art for Professional Photography and ended up receiving both of the only awards giving by the school to graduates. so, thank you matthew!
Heirloom: How would you describe your photography style?
Morgan: romantic. emotional. loving. ethereal. authentic.
Heirloom: What inspires you? Where do you turn for inspiration?
Morgan: I am very effected by the things I am inspired by. fog, flowers, the way the light hits a certain way, WIND! a lot of elements which are just found in nature shape and mold my style for a sea of love to be an authentic documentation of the love between two people, aimed to provoke emotion.
Heirloom: You have your hand in so many things. Tell us a little about everything you have going on?
Morgan: I honestly feel like I need to be pinched a lot because things have been going better than expected!! I only average have about five shoots and a wedding each week! In the beginning of 2014 I took the plunge into going freelance! I had only been out of college for 1.5 years and was working full-time as a photographer/editor for an online clothing company based in Dallas. I was working every weekend building my clients and working towards my ultimate goal of being my own version of a #girlboss!
I started in Dallas as more of a fashion and commercial photographer, I do testing and work with most of the agencies in Dallas. It is so beautiful to be apart of the beginning stages of a model's career, the energy is so exciting!! I also am so so lucky to be the photographer for several clothing boutiques, bloggers, and designers in Dallas! My second love besides fashion is love, so it was only natural for me to also checkout that side of the industry!
In February 2014 I started a sea of love!! in the first year we were apart of so many beautiful love stories and were given the honor of being the best of wedding in 2015 by The Knot. our second wedding season is well under way and between my team and I we have over forty-weddings!! it is such a joy to be able to do what I love and meeting so many other creative and driven people along the way! It has been super fun owning my company and having an amazing team makes it so rewarding!!
