Today we bring to you a styled shoot full of the most gorgeous light! Wherever you are, whatever the weather, this shoot will certainly brighten your day. Sweet, beautiful Katie of Katie Lamb Photography is an incredible photographer based in Houston, Tx. She has a heart for others, especially when it comes to orphans around the world.
We introduce you to Katie today and some of her gorgeous images! More of her amazing talent coming to Heirloom soon!
Heirloom: Do you have any morning rituals or things you do to get ready for a long day of editing or shooting?
Katie: I'm a bit of a clean freak - especially when it comes to my office. At the end of every work day, I make sure my office is clean and organized and ready for me to start work the next day. Every morning I head to the gym to workout before coming back to my home office and starting my work day. This ensures that I feel good and have the energy to get through the day!
Heirloom: How do you balance work & play?
Katie: Every Sunday afternoon, I create my To Do List for the week - divided into days. This way I'm not working off one long To Do List that would tempt me to work all day and night to get as much checked off the list as possible. My list for the week is broken up into segments that I can realistically get done by the end of each work day. I also have a rule that all of my work for the day must be done by the time my husband is home from work so that, once he is home, I can close my office doors and be fully present in my time to him. Lastly, I only book sessions on certain days of the week, so that I can have a few days of the week that are spent 100% in the office in order to always stay on top of my editing, emails, bookkeeping, etc.
Heirloom: What intrigues you most about using light in photography?
Katie: I love that light is so easily manipulated and that in any given location or situation, you can create beautiful, flattering light.
Heirloom: What’s one thing/event/person/place you’ve always wanted to shoot but have yet to do it?
Katie: I have been involved with multiple international mission and orphan outrage programs over the years and have traveled all over the world to photograph the works of these ministries - from Africa, to Western & Eastern Europe, to China. However, one location I have yet to go to photograph that I would love to document with photography is Vietnam.
