Heirloom: Do you have any morning rituals or things you do to get ready for a long day of creating? (exs. A latte from your local coffee shop? Making sure you wake up before the sun? Go for a run?)
Lindsey: To be honest, I have a really hard time getting out of bed in the morning. But recently was given a Nespresso machine for my birthday. It has definitely helped me hit the snooze button a few less times. So I am all about that Espresso!
Heirloom: What inspired you to start LAW Designs? Tell us the story!
Lindsey: I am always looking for something specific when I shop. I never walk into a store without knowing what I want. I guess you could say I got tired of not being able to find what I had envisioned. So I started making jewelry! My mom would tell me that a few basic tops and some well-fitting dark jeans were all you really needed. The fun and unique part was accessorizing. She has always collected sweaters, scarves, and jewelry. After years of watching her get dressed, I have finally figured out my own style. I love jewelry and how one piece can transform a look. Some of my pieces are intended to be the showstopper paired with a simple black shift dress while others are meant to be more understated, classic and simple.
Heirloom: Where do you draw inspiration for you creations?
Lindsey: My grandmother is a pillar of class. She is 95 years old and doesn't go a minute without red lipstick, red nails and a styled outfit - not to mention she is constantly making everyone around her giggle. I love that even though she may struggle with her words and can't get around without her wheelchair, she still puts in the effort to look fabulous and be kind to others. I love that. When I design my pieces, my hope is that they would work for women of all ages. That one piece might make a lady feel like a lady - with class, beauty & a heart to match.
Heirloom: Tell us a little about you & your hubs! How do you balance work & play?
Lindsey: Whenever Jarrod and I get into a fight we are always reminding each other, "Hey, I am not the enemy here, I am on your team." This is true both when we are at odds and when everything is peachy. He has always been so incredibly supportive and is a great teammate - from staying up on Christmas Ever in to the wee morning hours helping me bead those last minute orders to watching episode after episode of friends (God bless you Netflix) on a Sunday afternoon while holding the end of my wire. It really is a team effort and he is my quarter back.
"Life is a storm, my young friend. You will bask in the sunlight one moment, be shattered on the rocks the next. What makes you a man is what you do when that storm comes. You must look into that storm and shout as you did in Rome. Do your worst, for I will do mine! Then the fates will know you as we know you."
