“I knew when I met you an adventure was going to happen.” - A.A. Milne

Heirloom: Do you have any morning rituals or things you do to get ready for a long day of editing or shooting?
Kelly: Actually, yes! I try to give myself time to pick up my favorite coffee shop drink: an iced White Rocker from White Rock Coffee in my neighborhood. It's a mix of espresso, milk, caramel and white chocolate! mmmm yes.
Heirloom: How do you balance work & play?
Kelly: I love my job so much that a lot of the time when I'm shooting I feel like I am just having fun. However, editing, as well as any business-related parts of photography comes a little less easy for me. I try to keep it all balanced by staying on top of my daily to-do list (I use ShootQ. Fellow photogs, it's a lifesaver!) Once I'm finished with what needs to be done I make sure to leave my work in the office, close the door and not return until the next day. I used to spend hours and hours on the computer working on different projects until the early morning hours, go to bed extremely late, sleep in the next morning, repeat. I'd eat dinner while editing or answering emails. Now I make sure to step back and spend time with my husband in the evenings when he gets off work or done with school.
Heirloom: What intrigues you most about using light in photography?
Kelly: Many things about light in photography fascinate me but the most intriguing thing is how you can make any lighting scenario work and how your can manipulate it to achieve a look you want.
Heirloom: What’s one thing/event/person/place you’ve always wanted to shoot but have yet to do it?
Kelly: I would love to photograph the Holi Festival that happens in India every Spring. So much color! #hearteyes
